We just completed the fourth race of the season. It’s hard to believe that we
have done three national races already. It seems like you wait an eternity for
the season to get here and then its goes by so fast when it finally does get
here.
Race #4 took us to the WSA Worldwide Championship race at Park X in Hill City,
MN. They had designed an awesome track with plenty of snow.
In Semi-Pro Stock Bobby had his struggles in his first heat finishing 6th
but redeemed himself with a 1st and 2nd in the next two
rounds. He made the LCQ where they would pull the first five to the back row of
the final. Bobby finished 4th in the LCQ putting him in the final.
Once the final was lined up they were off when the green flag was waived. Bobby
did not get the best start and ended up in the back of the pack and things did
not get any better. Bobby finished Semi-Pro Stock with a 12th place
finish.
In
Semi-Pro Open Mike Schultz had an awesome three rounds of qualifying taking 1st
in each one. He was the #1 qualifier going into the final. Bobby struggled
with his qualifying finishing 4th, 5th and 2nd
respectively. He made the LCQ but did not go on to the final.
The Semi-Pro Open final went to the line. When the green flag went up it was
Malinoski, Simons, Brooks and Schultz battling out in front for the lead with
Malinoski slotting into 1st, Simons 2nd, Brooks 3rd
and Schultz 4th. However, Schultz made quick work of Brooks passing
him easily taking over 3rd. Then Simons who had been hanging it out
big on the long downhill in qualifying tried the same maneuver only this time he
went a little too big and came off relinquishing 2nd to Schultz.
Schultz began his pursuit of Malinoski for the lead but ran out of time and took
2nd place at the checkered flag.
In Pro Stock Mike made the LCQ with his 5th, 4th and 4th
in qualifying. In the LCQ he had a good start and was running a great race but
was just one place out of from making the cut to the back row of the final.
Mike is getting stronger every week as he runs with the top pros. He can only
get faster.
We were pleased with this weekend’s results. Next weekend we are off but look
forward to our next race at Shawano, WI on Jan. 2nd – 4th.
