The Winter X-Games was our next stop on the schedule in Aspen, CO. The X-games
is always an awesome experience to be involved in. Mike Schultz was invited to
participate, so off to Aspen we went.
We had practice on Friday afternoon and Friday
night was a dry run with cameras rolling. This was necessary because the event
was televised live Saturday night. We had one more practice before the
qualifying Saturday night. During this and all practices Mike Schultz was
looking very fast. In this particular practice he had over jumped a triple and
so on the next lap he shortened it up a bit however, it was too short and he
crashed hard. The sled was in bad shape and Mike was injured. He appeared to
have a mild concussion, a possible fracture to the right hand or wrist and
perhaps a collar bone injury. Due to the injuries we pulled him out of the
competition for the event. He was seen at the local hospital where they said he
probably had a mild concussion, a partially separated shoulder and a sprain with
a possibility of a fracture to the wrist but x-rays didn’t show one because of
the swelling. He was to be re-x-rayed in one week.
Update:
He does not have a
fracture of any kind and only a serious sprain to the wrist/hand area. He was
not restricted from activity other than as tolerated. He will sit out for two
weeks to heal the shoulder and hand and will return to racing in February for
the Valcourt, QC WSA National on February 14th.
Bobby attended a local race in Iron River, MI where he took two 2nd
places and a 1st place finish.
Our next stop is the Super SnoCross Indoor Stadium Tour next weekend at the
Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN where Bobby LePage will race. Mike will be in
attendance for the autograph session.
